((I’m not sure what I should be more surprised at, the fact that Undertale tied for second to last place or that Darkstalkers made it in second place. Regardless, the people have spoken. When I get the chance, I will make a Tarot Arcana post for Kingdom Hearts characters. This should be fun.))
On a peaceful afternoon, the Anarchy Sisters were wandering around enjoying snacks together until they spot Brief talking to someone in the distance. Normally, they probably wouldn’t care, but the guy Brief is talking to is a bit of a hunk as he has a slim, muscular build and is wearing an all white suit with sunglasses. Naturally, Panty wants to have a little “chat” with him and started going up to them. “And then he just punched the asteroid into the sun of another galaxy!” Brief shouts. “That’s incredible. That mech must have received a massive tune up to display that power compared to its last fight.” The man replied. “That’s what I’m thinking, but they’re not going to explain it until next week’s episode!” Brief said. “Ugh. Of course there’s a cliffhanger. Always showing up at the wrong times even back in western cartoons.” The man said. “Hey Geek boy.” Panty says, going up to them. “Who’s your tall, handsome friend here?”
“Hehe, looks like I wim this round” Stocking said with a smirk
“So you have. I really must be getting rusty at this point.” Frame gets off the machine. “I believe we have time for at least one more game, if you’re interested. Feel free to pick it out.”
“Alright then. Hmm… hey, how about that one?” Stocking asked as she pointed towards a taiko drum rhythm game
“I must admit, that’s not a game I’m familiar with in the slightest.” Frame says as he looks at the arcade machine. “Though, there shouldn’t be any harm giving it a shot, right?”
While out traveling with her knight companion, Yuze accidentally stumbled upon a strange portal that opened in the sky. In mere moments, the two of them were sucked in and were transported into a different world. The portal spits Yuze out in the edge of a town, leaving her unconscious. When she finally wakes up, she notices that she’s inside some sort of old lighthouse. “Huh? Where am I?” She steps out of the hammock that she was laying on and looks around again, suddenly realizing something important. “Partner? …Oh no! Where’s my partner?!” She thinks back to the last time they were together and recalls the portal. “Did that portal thing separate us? In that case, I have to find him!” Yuze was about to rush out the door until she bumps into someone who was walking in. “Oow. S-Sorry, I didn’t see you there. Are you okay?” Yuze asks as she picks herself up.
“Well it was probably best that you didn’t, Ramiz. That whole festival started out as a trap made by Risky and the Empress Siren to capture the Half-Genies and steal their magic. I don’t want to imagine what that Empress Siren would have done if she got ahold of your magic or your Relics” Shantae said
“No way, really? Sounds like I dodged a bullet.” Ramiz says in shock. The knight asked Shantae where they could find the genie, only for them to hear a voice come from the house. “Did someone call my name?” Out from the house was a young girl wearing a hula outfit with leaves in her hair.
“Vera~! Good to see you again~!” Shantae smiles brightly and waves to her friend
“Oh Shantae!” Vera happily goes up to Shantae and hugs her. “Always a pleasure to see you.” She then turns around to see Ramiz. “And you’re the magician from before…Ramiz right?” “Glad you remember me, Vera. It’s been a while.” Ramiz replied. “So many beautiful people. I must be dreaming at this point.” Yuze said. “Hmm? Are these friends of yours, Shantae?” Vera asked.
“Yeah, it’s a bit of a long story” Shantae said before she fills Vera in on what’s been going on
“Oh my. That certainly is a pickle.” Vera says after hearing the story thus far. “Don’t worry. The other half genies and I will help you get home.” “Really? I can’t thank you enough for this!” Yuze says as she hugs Vera. “S-someone’s overly friendly, aren’t they?” Vera says, blushing about getting hugged out of nowhere. The knight says that she has no idea. “So where do we find the other genies?” Bianca asked, trying hard to hide her envy from seeing Vera getting hugged. “You don’t need to.” Vera says as she takes out a walkie talkie. “I can just get in touch with Plink and she can bring the others straight here.” She explained.

Jade just made it inside the Virdian forest, feeling very confident on how far she already traveled in such short amount of time. “At this rate, I might end up with 2 badges before Jet gets his first one!” Jade shouts. “I wouldn’t get too carried away.” Palmon warned through Jade’s phone. “I heard there’s a lot of bug types in this forest. My attacks can’t do all that much so we’ll be in trouble if we’re not careful.” “Ah, you worry too much, Palmon. I know as long as you and Squirtle have my back, there’s nothing to-” Just as she was about to finish, she heard yelling from deeper in the forest. “Hmm? What was that?” Jade asked. “It sounds like someone’s in trouble.” Palmon replied. “Say no more!” Wasting no time, Jade runs off to investigate.
Brandon managed to get the data he needed and he was glad to finally have what he needs to get a Lunamon for himself. Though when he heard Palmon and Jade talking, he gently pats Jade on the back and smiles softly at her
“Hey, it’s okay. If it makes you feel any better, I’ll help you get what you need to keep your team balanced” Brandon offered to her
“Really?” After hearing that, Jade’s tears immediately stop and she takes out her digi-vice. “You got some Armadilomon data for me then?” She asked. “Calm down, Jade. You just need to encounter 2 to make your own!” Palmon shouts.
“Hey, it’s fine. I have plenty I can share. Just keep your Digivice still” Brandon said before he sends some data her way with his own Digivice
Jade gets excited after seeing the armadillomon data get transferred into her phone. “Thanks! I didn’t know I could do that.” She happily shouts. “You never asked about it.” Palmon sighed. After a while of traveling, two more rocket grunts appear in front of them. “Hey! You the twerps messing with our squadmate?!” One of them shouts.
((Well, you guys asked for it and here it is. Kingdom Hearts characters represented by the Tarot Arcana. As usual before we begin, keep in mind that this is my own personal take on the idea, if you feel differently about my opinions, feel free to let me know and we can see if we can discuss. Also, there WILL be spoilers across the various Kingdom Hearts games, so if you haven’t played any of them yet, click off the post until you catch up. Considering the amount of Kingdom Hearts characters are in the series as a whole, I’ll try to keep things simple and only cover their respective original characters, meaning no Disney characters like Mickey, Donald, or Goofy, and no Final Fantasy characters like Squall, Cloud, or Cid. Finally, don’t expect me to cover everyone because we’ll be here forever, I apologize, but this what happens when you lack time. With all that out of the way, let’s get started.
The Destiny Island trio, Sora, Riku, and Kairi, are pretty easy to figure out. Starting off with Sora, it should come to no surprise that he gets the Fool Arcana. In fact, it would be a challenge to find any other video game protagonist outside of SMT that would be better suited for this Arcana than Sora from Kingdom Hearts. He’s the main character, his power literally comes from the bonds he forges with other people, he’s naive, he’s literally the perfect candidate. Riku would definitely be the Magician. Not only does he play the role of best friend, but he also has the unique talent of balancing both light and darkness without creating a nobody. Yes, he was tricked into getting those dark powers, but he did learn how to control them and use it for good, which makes him such a valuable asset to the team. And you already know Kairi gets the Lovers Arcana. Sadly, it’s not really her fault honestly. She’s desperately trying to get involved and stay close to Sora and Riku, especially Sora. That’s why she started training and made sure to share some paopu with Sora before the Keyblade War just in case. It’s just that current circumstances just keep working against her favor, forcing them to separate for one reason or another (thanks Nomura).
Now here’s where things start to get a little interesting as I go into characters that fit different positions of the Arcana.
Starting with Vanitas, who would be a Reverse Fool, otherwise known as the Jester Arcana. This position represents an unfinished side of oneself. A part of you that’s kept in the shadows. Granted, he’s literally made up of Ventus’s Darkness and not Sora’s but I don’t think there’s a more apt description of him.
Roxas on the other hand, would be the Fool Arcana in the Advise position. This position represents the need to open up and become more spontaneous, and I think we can agree that Roxas wasn’t all that sociable until Axel and Xion came along. For the most part, he was just curious about everything around him and didn’t have much of a strong reaction until later on. You could say that him befriending Axel and Xion is what led to him having a heart.
Speaking of Xion, she would be the Lovers Arcana in the Advise position. This position represents the need of making the wisest decision after considering your long term interests. While you won’t be judged for said decision, you do have to be warry of discontent depending on what you go with. I think we know where this is going. Yeah, Xion’s decision to have Roxas off her so she can no longer be used by the Organization despite her wanting to stay with him and Axel is a wise decision, but to say Roxas was discontent on that was an understatement. Also, the reason I’m giving her a position of the Lovers Arcana instead of Fool even though she’s made up of Sora’s memories, most of those memories used to make her was that of Kairi, which is why she looks like she does to most people.
Namine on the other hand, is the Reverse Lovers. This position symbolizes having a vested interest in opposition which cannot be resolved until one owns up to it. Now granted it, this is mainly due to her being captured by members of the Organization, but I think her replacing Kairi in Sora’s memories fits the bill here. After all, she did point out when they met that even before she captured by them, she was rather lonely and wanted to be a part of Sora’s life after looking into the memories he has with everyone.
Axel/Lea would get the Sun Arcana. Not only is he a fire based fighter, so much so that he can absorb fire to heal himself, but keep in mind, he was the first person in the organization to start befriending Roxas. While he does make some actions he regrets including lying to Roxas and kidnapping Kairi, he does try to make up for it and keep his head held high.
Unsurprisingly, Saix/Isa is the Moon Arcana. Not only is he more powerful under some form of moonlight like a werewolf, but remember what this Arcana represents, insecurities. Saix pretty much targeted Roxas and Xion because he was jealous of them and started having doubts about his friendship with Lea. They joined the organization as a plan to use them, but at some point, Saix began to worry if Lea forgot about it or no longer cared.
Sadly, I’m going to have to give Ventus the Tower Arcana. Pretty fucked up, but that’s exactly why. Ventus literally shattered his own heart in order to stop Vanitas and prevent Xehanort from getting the “X”-Blade. This resulted in him resting inside of Sora for years until Kingdom Hearts 3, which was one of the steps that allowed Sora to become a keyblade user to begin with.
Terra easily gets the Justice Arcana. Yeah, quite a few actions had consequences alright. Being too determined to win his fight against Aqua? Fail the keyblade Master exam and getting Xehanort’s attention. Confronting Eraqus about Ventus’s treatment? Watch him die right in front of you after you weaken him. Go after Xehanort for revenge? Y-You get the idea.
Aqua would probably get the Priestess. After all, you have to have good instincts to survive in the Realm of Darkness for over 10 years on your own. Not to mention, she is pretty much the one trying to clean up everyone’s messes as much as possible until she got trapped in the dark realm, including making sure to hide Ventus’s physical body somewhere safe until Sora was ready to reunite him in Kingdom Hearts 3. And now that the trios and Namine have been covered, let’s look over characters I think might fit other Arcana the best.
Not giving Luxord the Wheel of Fortune Arcana would be an insult to his character. Even his method of fighting using cards and dice is based around gambling. He fully accepts whatever hand he has been dealt with, whether good or bad, and never backs down from a good wager. As much as a lackluster I find Kingdom Hearts 3, I have to admit, Luxord did get an upgrade in the game.
Eraqus would probably be the Hierophant mainly due to his role as a teacher to Aqua and Terra. He is pretty by the books as shown in Birth by Sleep and wants to make sure his students are one the right path of light, which is probably why he reacted the way he did toward Terra after he saw him using darkness in his exam.
As much as I want to get Xehanort the Judgement Arcana with him being the main villain of the series up until Kingdom Hearts 3, I think Hanged Man might actually be more suited for him. We are talking about someone who won’t hesitate to sacrifice anything he needed to obtain a Keyblade, including his own best friend, body, and students. If he realizes you gotta go, he’ll make you leave.
Xehanort’s Heartless would be the Hanged Man in the Advised position. This position symbolizes the need to give up the illusion of control and to realize that you have been bested, which pretty much sums up his relationship with Riku post Kingdom Hearts 1. Ever since Chain of Memories, Xehanort’s Heartless was constantly plotting on Riku to fully succumb to darkness again, allowing him to take control, only for Riku to find a balanced middle ground and stay on that path. While he technically succumbs in a way during his fight against Roxas at the end of 358/2, he only had his body altered to look like Xehanort’s Heartless temporarily while his mind was fully in control.
This puts his nobody, Xemnas, in the Reversed Hanged Man Arcana position, which represents the realization that your sacrifices are ultimately pointless. Anyone who saw his death scene in Kingdom Hearts 3 knows exactly what I’m talking about. Constantly tossing aside his own comrades for his personal gain to gain a heart, only to finally have one and be filled with nothing but pain and regret.
I feel like Hayner would be the Chariot Arcana as he’s the most active of his group even if you include Roxas. He may not be excited about doing homework, but he’s usually the one with a plan of action and doesn’t back down when it’s time to square up even if there’s a disadvantage.
Pence gets the Temperance Arcana with ease. He’s pretty easy going and his line of “enjoying life’s simple pleasures” still rings in my head to this day and I haven’t played Kingdom Hearts 2 in quite a few years. I can also hear arguments for Demyx getting this Arcana as well.
I can’t really think of an Arcana that would completely suit Olette, but if I have to choose, it would probably be the Empress Arcana. This is mainly due to her being the most responsible member of the group as she’s the main one trying to get the summer homework finished as soon as possible, and while she doesn’t exactly have a romantic interest as far as I can tell, she does consider Sora and Kairi’s story romantic.
This might be a stretch, but I’m giving Ansem the Wise the Emperor Arcana. He was technically the ruler of Radiant Garden before it was overtaken by Heartless and while he can be kind, he can also be authoritative, leading to him doing actions he regrets, most notably his treatment of Roxas and Namine during Sora’s memory recovery.
Finally, I’m giving Luxu/Xigbar the Star in the Reversed position, though it maybe upright now if the ending of Kingdom Hearts 3 is anything to go by. This position represents one temporally alienating their brilliance and usefulness, sometimes even forgetting them. While he never actually forgot, Xigbar has been purposely playing second banana to Xehanort until the Keyblade War, when in reality, he’s doing what he was instructed by the Master of Masters.
And that’s where I’m going to leave things this time. If you have ideas for any characters I haven’t covered or have some opinions with anyone I DID cover, feel free to let me know.))
Jewel and Gem were busy gearing up and getting ready for a salmon run. They were having a bit of small talk while suiting up. “I can’t believe I let you rope me into doing this.” Gem sighed. “Hey, you want to be able to buy food for dinner tonight, right?” Jewel remarked. “I’d rather just DJ a concert or fix up gadgets, not go egg hunting for some weirdo.” Gem said. “Yeah well there aren’t any gigs open right now, so what can you do?” Jewel shrugged. “Let’s get this over with.” Gem picks up her weapon and starts walking toward the door. “I hope we didn’t keep that other guy waiting.”
”Hm?” Layla was waiting for a team to join up with for her daily salmon run work.
After a while, Gem and Jewel leave the changing area and meet up with Layla. “Hey, sorry we kept you waiting.” Jewel says as she smiles and waves at her.
“Finding relatives isn’t the problem… So much as finding the right ones.” Sure, Evelyn’s statement was rather… Odd, but taking into account how many relatives she has, here, there, and elsewhere, such a statement couldn’t be more accurate.
“Although, with my luck, they probably already have some weird and crazy scheme going on…”
“Crazy scheme? You wouldn’t be talking about the reincarnation certificate scheme that’s been going on lately, are you?” Killia asked. “A lot of prinnies are getting ripped off because they’re buying those things, thinking they’ll get a free pass to reincarnate at the next red moon.”
“Maybe… Although I should probably admit that I have more than a few relatives down here, up there, and over there… possibly everywhere…” The brunette would admit from years of personal experience from being passed around from one relation to the nect.
“I don’t know much about Prinnies outside of what I’ve seen or what you told me, but I could totally see someone in the family having something to do with it. Although it isn’t always about money and they usually don’t like getting their own hands dirty... so I’d keep your eyes and ears peeled for something else going on.”
Her mood would oddly change at this point as she takes on something resembling a more interrogative tone, those yellow eyes peering at him intently as if looking somewhere else entirely.
“Speaking of which… what are they buying these "reincarnation certificates” with… and do you have one?“
"The prinnies are being scammed out of their own money (HL) into buying these. They need money in order to help pay for their reincarnation, especially if they committed a lot of heavy crimes in their previous lives.” Killia explained. “I’m not a prinny looking to reincarnate, so naturally I didn’t buy one. I only found out this was going on because one of my allies who has prinnies working for her brough it up to me one day.”
“Ok, this looks like the place.” A blue haired young man said as she walked though the streets. “New Meridian huh? Can’t say I ever thought I would come here.” The young man was wearing a short blue shirt with a black cat hoodie along with black jeans and red sneakers. Around his neck was a pair of ear phones that were connected to his phone and a gray book bag. “I’ve always heard stories of how dangerous this place is. I just hope those danger’s don’t cause me to much trouble. I have a job to do after all.” That’s when his stomach started to growl.
“I agree with the hair. Might be best to go with it.” Daiki stopped and sighed. “Not what I was executing to say in my life time.” Daiki mudderd before he turned his attention to Peacock. “So, are you ok?” Daiki asked her. Might as well start by saying something.
“Hmm?” Peacock turns around and sees the group. “Oh…you guys. Came here to gloat about how you beat me and defeated the skullgirl?” Peacock asked, looking a little sad at the moment despite her smile. “No. Actually, we didn’t fight her yet.” Shantae points out. “Wait, don’t tell me you have a change of heart.” Peacock said. “Hell no! We just agreed on some prep time.” Samson shouts. “Samson!” Filia shouts. “Actually, we came here to ask you about the skillgirl.” “Why?” Peacock raised an eyebrow.
“Because we need to destroy the Skull Heart.” Daiki said. “I understand that who ever the current Skull Girl is, she is someone close to you. Unfortunately, the situation has drawn the heads of people outside the city, and they don’t want to risk her leaving. They are fully willing to burn this city to the ground to get rid of her and the Skull Heart.” Daiki explained. “Honestly, if their was a way to solve this peacefully, I would be trying to go for that instead.”
Peacock lets out a sigh of exhaustion and annoyance. “You really think I haven’t tried to come up with something like that?” Peacock jumps out of her bed and fully faces the group. “That skullgirl, Marie, is the closest thing to a true friend I have in this world. She became the skullgirl after using the skullheart to get payback on those slave traders who ruined our lives…as well as the damn Medici Mafia.” Peacock explained. “Slave Traders?” Shantae asked in horror. “Me…Medici?” Samson looks at Filia in suspicion after she said that. “Yeah, Marie and I were war kids, sold into labor. In fact, Marie only became the new skullgirl just a few months ago. I was tasked to destroy the Skullheart that turned her into what she is now and the only way to get to it is…through her…” Peacock looked away as she said that.
Daiki listened to the whole story and looked down. Hearing such a thing from Peacock was….not doing much for his mood. ‘She’s only doing this because what the Medici family put them through.’ Daiki growled to himself as. “If I had know it was this bad, I would have found a way to Erase those thugs myself.” Daiki admitted. Daiki then looked up. “I know this sounds empty coming from me, but I am sorry you both had to go through that Peacock. If I knew how, I would have helped find a way to free Marie. No questions or favors asked.”
“Daiki…” Shantae whispers to herself. “Hey, stop looking so glum. It’s not like any of you folks hard to deal with it.” Samson couldn’t help but look away after hearing Peacock say that. “Anyway, I’m not the only weapon tasked with this job. The skull heart keeps coming back even after it gets destroyed, granted it takes a while for it to reform itself.” Peacock explained. “So there’s nothing we can do?” Filia asked. “Well, I have heard rumors through the grapevine that something might happen if someone makes a selfless wish on the skullheart.” Peacock points out. “A selfless wish.” Shantae tilts her head. “Yeah, a wish with made from no desires whatsoever. At least, I think that’s how it goes. Even then, it doesn’t change the fact that you have to get rid of the skullgirl first to test the theory out.” Peacock said.
“So we might need to fight either way.” Daiki said before he started to pace. Even if they won, that still had the issue of the Skullheart itself. “We could find a way to contain it so my…employer can take care of it, but I have a feeling it won’t go like that.” Daiki said.
“That’s a good idea. It can’t come back if it’s locked away tight where no one can find it.” Shantae said. “No, trust me. That’s only going to make more problems in the long run…a lot more.” Samson points out. “What do you mean, Samson?” Filia asked. “…Just a gut feeling…” Samson says, looking away. “Is that parasite usually this cryptic?” Peacock asked. “No, he’s pretty blunt and brash most of the time.” Filia said. “Then I guess our only hope is to think of a selfless wish.” Shantae sighs.
“A selfless wish huh?” Daiki thought out loud, before scratching his head. “Damn it. That’s going to be tough on it’s own. We could wish it away sure, but we don’t even know what that thing would consider selfless right? What if it has a warped view on what it means to be selfless?” Daiki asked, feeling lost on what to do.
“Wait…I think I have an idea.” Filia said. “What is it?” Shantae asked. “It’s a risky gamble, but I know what to wish for.” Filia said. “What are you waiting for? Spill the beans, kid.” Samson said. “Sorry Samson, for it to work, I have to keep it secret, even from you. You’re just going to have to trust me.” Filia explained. “I hope you know what you’re doing…” Peacock and Samson sigh at the same time. “I trust you.” Shantae says, looking at Filia. “Call me crazy, but you have a pretty good aura around you, Filia. I think you know what you’re doing.”
Daiki was silent for a moment before he sighed. “I don’t like this, but I can tell you have a good heart. Just please tell this doesn’t include some big sacrifice play.” Daiki told Fillia. The young man was not a fan of someone needing to sacrifice themselves to end this mission.
“Well…not a BIG sacrifice. I don’t plan on any of us dying if that’s what you’re thinking.” Filia points out. “Good. You know I’ll never forgive you if you do that.” Samson said. “And I can’t have that on my conscience, can I Samson?” Filia says while rubbing him with her hand as if she’s gently stroking her hair, making Samson slowly smile. “Okay, now we just need to get back to the church. I hope no one else beat us to the skullgirl before we make it there.” Shantae said.
“And if they do, we’ll just need to stop them.” Daiki said. “It won’t be easy, but I know we can pull it off.” The young man started to walk to the church as he thought to himself. He thought he would be doing this mission alone, so he didn’t expect to meet this many people who wanted the Skullheart gone.
Soon, they group made their way back to the Church and fortunately, they were able to reach the chamber of the Skullgirl without any issue. Sure enough, the skullgirl herself, Marie, was right there, waiting for them. “…So, you managed to make it here after all…” She says calmly after putting down her tea that she was drinking and turning around to face the group. “Missed me, Marie? I know sure as hell I missed you.” Peacock said as she walks up to the girl. “To say that I have would be an understatement, Peacock.” Marie says, letting out a smile that looks like haven’t been shown in years. “It’s wonderful to see you again, though I didn’t expect you to bring company.” She glances over to the party behind her, both Shantae and Filia smiling and waving. “Eh, just met some nice folks wanting to help.” Peacock joked.
Daiki got a good look at Marie. Sure enough, aside from the otherworldly energy around her, she seemed like a normal girl around Peacock’s age. It made everything that Peacock told them all the worst. ‘She was pushed into this. She really didn’t have much of a choice did she?’ Daiki thought to himself before clearing his head. No matter the reason, they still had a job to do.
“It is a bit of a relief that you managed to make some new companions during your travels, Peacock. After all, our time together now is limited…isn’t it?” Marie asked, letting out a sigh. “Don’t gotta remind me. I’m just glad I get to see my #1 gal again.” Peacock slightly joked, though it’s clear it’s to take the pain away from the current situation. “Is there really no other way around this?” Shantae asked. Marie shakes her head. “The skullgirl must perish before anyone can reach the skullheart. There is no other option.” Shantae begins to hesitate after hearing this. “Please, do not cry for me. I have long accepted my fate after using the skullheart’s power. With Peacock here, I am at peace even more so than ever…but that doesn’t mean the skullheart will allow me to end without a fight.” Marie says as she takes a few steps back away from the group. “Are you ready?” She asked.

“Huh?
((Yeah I’m doing this. Hopefully you guys aren’t tired yet of seeing me make this kind of content yet but I feel like I want to share my thoughts on how I wish to go about it, especially since I’m not even finished with the P5/D5 crossover story. I still planning on finishing it, don’t get me wrong, but with everything that’s been going on, it is taking a long time, so I just want to share my thoughts on how to go about putting Disgaea characters in the other Persona games. I would say vice versa, but for every Disgaea game, it basically boils down to a chance encounter leading up to a boss fight against the Persona cast before they join the party. Except Disgaea RPG, I would try to come up with special events, one for each Persona title, but the game’s no longer available outside of Japan so…eh. I’m not going to bother with putting Killia in Persona 5 as you guys can pretty much already tell with what I’m going for if you read my crossover story either on this site or Ao3.
As I said before, I can’t really think of a good way for including Laharl and maybe Etna and Flonne in Persona 1 outside of an unlockable boss fight. That being said, coming up with said fight would be easy. The group comes across Laharl in his coffin that somehow made it to the human world, they open it, he wakes up, Laharl gets pissed for not only having his sleep disturbed but also finding out that he’s not even in the Netherworld, and takes it out on the group. Even better, you can have this moment take place right before Etna wakes him up in the beginning of Disgaea 1. And your reward for beating him is Laharl leaving some sort of projection of himself to be used as a Persona. And now I can’t get the image of Naoya using Meteor Impact out of my head.
I’m probably going to have to rewatch Persona 2 in order to think of a good spot to include Adell. And yes, I mean rewatch. I’m not playing this game again. So far, my best bet would probably be to take advantage of that little movie thing that they have in the PSP version of the game and come up with an entire unique crossover section featuring either the Persona 2 cast going to Veldime for a vacation or Adell and maybe others ending up in the Persona world. In fact, I could take advantage of Adell being Prism Black and spark a rivalry between the Prism Rangers and Featherman. Once again, your reward for beating the section is having Adell join the party, either as an extra party member or have a leftover projection of his become a persona. Imagine Lisa Silverman pulling off the Vulcan Blaze. That would be epic. Rozalin in Eternal Punishment would likely get the same treatment.
Now we’re diving into the Social Link bits, starting with Mao and Raspberyl in Persona 3. As you can expect, which main character you play as will determine which Disgaea character you get, either Mao for Minato, or Beryl for Hamuko. For Mao’s story, I’m going to have him transfer into Gekkoukan High, likely sometime before Summer Vacation, as part of a bet he makes with Raspberyl. If Mao can become the #1 honor student at a human school following their rules, she will buy him a new Netherstation with 10 games of his choosing, but if he fails, he will have to spend a week doing volunteer work with her. It’s not going to take much to fool the school into thinking he’s a human as long as he can keep his hair long enough to cover his pointy ears. Naturally since the goal is to become the top honor student in the school, his target would be Mitsuru Kirijo. That’s where Minato comes in. After discovering that Minato is one of Mitsuru’s companions, he starts going after him to see if he can get info to take her down, thus starting the social link. That’s when he discovers that Minato is second behind her so in order to take down Mitsuru, he has to academically get through Minato first (yes, this does mean the player is required to have a high enough intelligence stat to start the social link). Hijinks ensue. You will have to find him as soon as Mao decides to follow the group one day into Tartarus, being more curious about the Dark Hour. After you win the fight, his mask finally slips. As for when it takes place, this will be before the events of Disgaea 3 but after the death of his father. Mainly because I want the game’s ending to leave another scar for Mao’s head that can further challenge him forming a bond with Almaz. “Oh great, another human hero. How will this one try to betray me”, ect. Now on to Beryl. Unfortunately, she won’t have much luck blending in as a student due to her horns and tail. What she CAN do is set up a donation stand nearby the shrine and have visitors believe that she’s in a costume as she gets donations. Hamuko donating enough times is what will spark the social link between her and Beryl as she will be interested in her generosity. Said social link would basically involve the two of them going around and doing various forms of charity work together. Once again, the mask will slip after they run into each other one day in Tartarus. As for the Arcana they would represent, I would say the Jester Arcana for Mao and Faith Arcana for Raspberyl.
Valvatorez in Disgaea 4 would be pretty interesting, but my overall idea for him is actually simple. He would be replacing Kashiwagi as the substitute teacher after the death of King Moron. As someone who takes his position seriously and looks after the well being of the students, he would be seen as a breath of fresh air to the class. The social link between him and Yu would when Yu accepts his offer to stay after class for tutoring, along the while, Valvatorez drops subtle hints about his past and mixes in some information about sardines. Once again, Valvatorez can potentially pass to looking like a human with a good enough disguise. I would say the mask drops around the time they have to rescue Nanako. Valvatorez just happened to be nearby the area where he and Namatame crashed and followed him inside the TV world to investigate, until the Investigation Team catches up to him and starts questioning him. That being said, the fight only starts because Valvatorez is the one trying to force them out of the TV world so they won’t be in danger and he can rescue Nanako, something he would promise Yu. He joins the party after he’s defeated. Now as to why he becomes a teacher in the human world is something I’m still trying to decide, but best-case scenario is something Axel related. His arcana for the social link would be the counselor, similar to Dr. Maruki from Persona 5. That being said, Valvatorez isn’t the only character I’m interested in making a social link in Persona 4.
I also have something in mind for Artina. Actually, I think her social link might be more interesting than Valvatorez. In order to secure more funds for Celestia, Artina goes to Yasoinaba in disguise as a nurse and starts working in one of the hospitals, the same one Yu works at as a janitor. That being said, the social link between him and Yu actually starts when Nanako suffers an injury one day and Artina quickly tends to her care. This would be the beginning of a cute bond between the three of them as Nanako would look up to Artina as a wonderful angelic figure who always helps out, not knowing that Artina really is an angel in disguise. In fact, Yu (and possibly Naoto) figure this out and confront Artina about it after Nanako suddenly regains life, especially if we go with the idea that Valvatorez’s social link is also taking place here. Yu could figure out Artina’s identity after listening to Valvatorez’s stories and realizing that he really is a vampire from another world. As you can imagine, Artina would be the game’s Faith Arcana social link. And no, there won’t be an option to date her.
Now I know Persona 6 hasn’t even been technically announced yet, I already have an idea on how to include Zed as a social link in the game. And it’s all thanks to Disgaea 6’s premise, Super Reincarnation! Basically, Zed dies and ends up in whatever dungeon is used for the game. Yeah, he’s not being a part of the surface world at all. He’s a zombie, everyone’s going to freak out the moment they see him. Besides, Zed would probably use the dungeon as a way to train while he’s stuck there. He’ll soon figures out that the best way to get back home is to bond with the main character and help them out with their quest. And yes, he will break the 4th wall explaining it. Until we get some details about what Persona 6 is going to be like, this is all I got for now.
So what do you guys think of my ideas? Any of them you want to see put into practice? Be sure to let me know. Thanks for reading.))
((He ho doods, Prinnyfrost reporting for duty! As promised, I am now about to go over potential Arcana characters from the Shantae series would represent. I have left a poll earlier today for which title I should look into next so if you haven’t already, go ahead and vote if you see your favorite one listed and you happen to enjoy the idea. Keep in mind, I’m not exactly a fortune teller so if I’m wrong about any of my picks, please don’t be afraid to point them out and explain to me why a different Acana would be better suited. Also, there are likely going to be spoilers for all of the Shantae titles released thus far, so if there’s one you haven’t played yet and don’t want to risk getting spoiled, please click away. With that settled, let’s get started.
First up is the star of the show herself, Shantae. And yeah, she gets the Fool Arcana with ease. She’s very friendly to those around her, even to her enemies and is willing to see the good in them, which results in her being tricked and taken advantage of in multiple occasions, usually by Risky Boots. That being said, she does highly value the bonds she made with everyone around her. Hell, in the ending of the original game for gameboy, she literally gave up her chance to fulfill her dream of becoming a full genie after finding out she would have to leave everyone behind. So yeah, the Fool Arcana fits Shantae perfectly.
Given his role as Shantae’s legal guardian and his more overall calm personality, I’m willing to give her uncle, Mimic either the Hierophant Arcana or at least Temperance. He’s always willing to give Shantae helpful advice if she needs it and he doesn’t get discouraged if one of his machines didn’t go out as planned. He just focuses on trying to come up with something new.
Call me crazy, but I’m going to give Sky the Magician Arcana for a few reasons. First, being able to command War Birds to assist you in battle is a pretty unique talent. Second, aside from Mimic, Sky is Shantae’s closest companion as the two of them grew up together. And third, well… remember when I said that Persona has a running bit about characters under the Magician Arcana finding love only for it to go wrong? Yeah, Sky fits that bill. She got engaged to one of Ammo Baron’s soldiers only for him to accidentally turned to stone or something along those lines, gets healed by Shantae, and then immediately dump Sky. Then Sky ends up falling for another guy in Siren Island, only for said guy to trick her and Shantae to put on armor that traps them in place and turned into action figures. I can hear arguments for Bolo getting this Arcana instead, but I think Sky deserves it more since Bolo just has bad luck trying to impress girls, while Sky had at least one legit fumble.
Speaking of Bolo, that leaves him with the Strength Arcana. While he has yet to show many signs of competence aside from helping Shantae when she was overtaken by darkness in Half Genie Hero, he is courageous and isn’t afraid to try his best if he feels the need to help. Yes, he messes up every now and then, but he’s a loyal companion to the end… until he gets distracted by Risky’s body.
Rottytops gets the Chariot Arcana with ease. She’s active, playful, pretty much does anything she sets her mind to, especially if it involves pranks or cosplaying. That being said, I can hear arguments for the Moon Arcana because she secretly has doubts about whether or not she’s a good enough friend for Shantae.
Risky gets the Emperor Arcana. To say she’s authoritative would be an understatement and believe it or not, she has been through quite a bit to become the Pirate Queen as she used to be under the thumb of the Pirate King many years ago. I’m not exactly sure what it was like for her working for the Pirate King, but given the bad blood between them, I’m willing to guess it wasn’t exactly a pleasant time.
Harmony would get the Empress Arcana. As the oldest of the current generation of Half Genies, she takes the big sister role and does her best to help look after all of them, including Shantae after the two of them meet for the first time.
Zapple also has a case for the Moon Arcana as she tends to have trust issues. She was even suspicious of Shantae for a while after the other half genies were kidnapped until Vera and Plink defended her.
Despite how friendly she seems, Vera doesn’t really enjoy going outside of her village all that much unless if there’s a good reason for it. That alone should be enough to give her the Hermit Arcana.
Plink on the other hand, easily gets the Star Arcana. Like Shantae, she’s always eager to help out and set off on an adventure if one is calling. Plus she’s the second youngest of the current generation of half genies, right above Shantae in age, meaning she’s likely less mature than the others and she has the ability to “open her mind’s eye” and see things that most other can’t.
I know you guys are going to riot if I don’t bring up Squid Baron at least once, so let’s get him over with. Constantly breaking the forth wall, reappears in the games waiting for his chance to become a final boss or a popular, all powerful secret boss, befriending Hypno Baron, yeah he’s getting the Sun Arcana. Helps that smile of his is pretty endearing.
Speaking of Hypno Baron, I want to say Death Arcana on a technicality as his plan is to end the world as we know it. And by that I mean completely dominate the market and potentially change how the world’s residents see and use it today. I know it’s not a great example of the Death Arcana, but I can’t really think of any other Arcana that would fit this character.
Techno Baron is arguably the most evil of the Barons as he actually has plans to take over the world with his artwork of weapons and gadgets. He even went so far as to take over Mermaid Island, turn mermaids into food, and replace the mermaids with the fake ones via girls he has captured. Because of that, I’m going to give him the Hanged Man Arcana.
Despite his name, “Ammo Baron” he is capable of diplomacy and is willing to work things out without having to fight, even though he really loves the action. Keep in mind, he only took over Scuttletown because of a deal he made with Scuttlebutt and treats the residents no differently than his soldiers. Because of this, I can see him having the Justice Arcana as he’s fair in his actions.
I feel like Twitch and Vinegar would be a good fit for the Wheel of Fortune Arcana. Sometimes they’re on Shantae’s side, sometimes not. Sometimes they get to enjoy a good vacation, sometimes not. Sometimes they pull off a mission without an issue, you get the idea.
I think I’ll end this post by talking about Mayor Scuttlebutt. This…irritating…insufferable…absolute TRASH excuse for a Mayor! Yeah, as you probably can tell, I don’t like this guy at all. Anyway, Devil Arcana mainly because he was pretty much powerless to do nothing but watch as Ammo Baron take over the town, even though it was HIS OWN FAULT TO BEGIN WITH! I better stop now before I go on a rant.
Anyway, what do you think? Was I accurate? Got some ideas of you own? Be sure to let me know.))
